My Retreat Vision
includes a balance of calm and peace with gentle restorative yoga and meditative practices alongside more invigorating flow
yoga and an arm balances practise. In addition I’m offering an inspiring workshop to manifest a more
positive future. The aim is to create a weekend that is both calming and positively uplifting.
In addition, I’m hoping to create an informal retreat where you will make lasting friendships and enjoy great
conversations over home-cooked, creative meals. There is also some free time to explore the local area,
carve out a little quiet reading time or have a long and luxurious soak in one of the beautiful bathrooms.
The Yoga and Meditation
Over the long weekend there
will be 6 yoga classes. All classes are fully inclusive and suitable for all levels. Modifications
and props are provided to take into account any health issues as well as range in ability / experience. You
will be fully guided, both verbally and through demonstration to help you find the correct alignment in your postures.
Lyn has been teaching yoga for more than 6 years and has experience of teaching
a variety of yoga styles, which is reflected in the diversity within the classes. Her style is to inspire
a mindful practice, without adjusting and encouraging yogis to feel their own practice and alignment.
Yoga helps the body improve suppleness and flexibility as well as build strength and tone. Further
benefits include improved posture, increased blood flow, lower blood pressure and higher energy levels.
We begin the weekend with a gentle, centring yoga class on the arrival evening to ease any travel stiffness
and set the tone for a weekend of calm. A more invigorating wake up yoga class greets us Saturday morning
and is followed later in the day with a slow-flow restorative yoga class, using blankets and props to go deeper and relax
in our asanas. Then concluding with a sound meditation featuring Dr Eben Alexander’s heaven sound
acoustics. The evening invites you to join a meditative dance session where you’ll immerse yourself
in the movement of the physical body, reaching a meditative state and letting go. Set to uplifting, rhythmic
beats the session will help you to explore the movement of the body in a fun and powerful way. This will
be fully guided and includes a final relaxation which will ensure you a good nights sleep. The next morning begins with a
meditative nature walk, enjoying the countryside and wildlife in a mindful way – Shinrin-Yoku. Later
that morning, there is an invigorating Vinyasa flow sequence yoga to energise the body. In the afternoon,
following some free time to discover the wonderful things on offer locally, we have a workshop exploring arm balances which
will cover a few intermediate poses (optional) for a greater challenge. Our final morning concludes with
a Salute to the Sun in a gentle flowing sequence for all levels.
classes are optional and you can choose to join in all or just those that interest you.
The theme for this weekend is about developing
inner peace and a positive mindset. This year the gentle yoga and meditation will be carried out mindfully
to take your practice to a deeper level of inner peace. The workshop is called ‘Manifesting the life
you want’ and will include addressing areas of your life where you wish to make changes and setting powerful and positive
manifestations. We will conclude the workshop by writing a letter to ourselves in the future and a visualisation
meditation. The workshop is a relaxed event and no one will be asked to shared personal information or
put on the spot. It will be a fun, self-exploratory exercise to gain an ongoing positive mindset.
Sunday afternoon offers a good few hours
of free time as well as plenty of short breaks between scheduled sessions. The venue offers beautiful views
of the countryside and gardens for relaxing or playing croquet. If you want to go out exploring in your
free time there are many beautiful, canal side walks through local villages. Or you could hire a canoe
or kayak (opposite the Manor House) and go out on the water (extra charge). Worton Park also has its own
outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts available free of charge, situated at its other site 5 mins drive away.
Or you could visit Worton Organic garden and café just over the bridge. It really is a beautiful
place set along the canal it’s the perfect venue for countryside strolls. The house also has a range
of board games and books to fill your time is you wish.
